SALT LAKE CITY — By Tuesday afternoon, voters were pouring into election centers and lining up at ballot dropboxes across Salt Lake County.

When asked by KSL NewsRadio about the issues that most concern them, voters brought up division and contention, immigration, and the cost of living.

And the presidential election, too.

The latest on the current election is all right here from KSL NewsRadio

Salt Lake County voters are deciding on two major bonds, including the Salt Lake County Public Safety Bond which combines two Salt Lake County jails. KSL NewsRadio spoke with a few voters, including Jessica Bastean, who said she voted for it.

“I think a new jail is incredibly important,” Bastean said, “for making sure that people who are held in incarceration have acceptable living conditions and proper programs available to them.”

Another voter told KSL NewsRadio they voted against the bond because of its financial obligation.

For and against the Salt Lake City School District General Obligation Bond

Salt Lake City voters are deciding on a bond that would help the Salt Lake City School District rebuild two schools.

Marla Love told KSL NewsRadio why she voted in favor of it.

“My businesses have always been in the arts and with children. So anything that gives more money to schools I will vote for. And anything that gives money to the arts I will vote for,” Love said.

Another voter said they voted against the Salt Lake City bond because they didn’t want to pay more money.

Other issues Utah voters said are important to them

Ron Ward was one of several voters who said women’s rights were one of the biggest issues on their minds.

“Women should be allowed to do with their bodies as they see fit,” he said.

Graham just moved to Salt Lake for the first time after 20 years of active military duty. He said his biggest issues focused on border security and taking care of military members and veterans. He also said he believed every election local or federal is important.

“Get out to the polls and vote. Cast a vote,” he said.

Those voting in person are urged to be in line at a polling site or a drop box no later than 8 p.m. Tuesday.
