SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah 2025 Legislative Session got underway with Senate President Stuart Adams, R-Layton and House Speaker Mike Schultz, R-Hooper sharing the Republican goals for the state.
Adams began the Senate session by focusing on how elected officials and Utah residents should lead changes in the state.
“We cannot let the Utah dream die,” Adams said. “And we will not let initiatives driven by out-of-state money turn Utah into California.”
The Senate President also shared his goal for Utah’s sustainable energy production.
“We need to establish Utah as the next frontier for energy innovation, not only for the nation but for the world.”
Utah Republican goals for education, families
Adams and Schultz both said they want to cut costs at public universities.
“Every dollar saved can go back into the hands of students,” Schultz said, “ensuring their investment in education yields a brighter future for our students and for the state.”
Schultz also talked about making Utah more affordable for young families.
“The Legislature has taken significant steps to turn the tide, like introducing programs that provide a foothold for first-time homebuyers. But our work is far from over.”
Other priorities Adams and Schultz shared include conserving water and taking control of Utah’s lands. The legislative session goes through March 1st.
