Utah Republicans in Senate District 22 will vote to replace Anderegg

HIGHLAND, Utah — Republican voters in Utah Senate District 22 will vote Tuesday night to replace outgoing State Senator Jake Anderegg.

Anderegg submitted his resignation in September after serving 11 years in the State Legislature. He served in the House from 2013 to 2016 then in the Senate since 2017.

He cited, “a significant change” in his employment when he submitted his letter of resignation, which takes effect on October 15.

As of Tuesday morning, 13 candidates were running for Anderegg’s seat. They include:

  • Corey Astill, Lehi
  • Emily Lockhart, Lehi
  • Elizabeth Rasmussen, Lehi
  • David Millington, Lehi
  • Mac Sims, Lehi
  • Charles Wood, Lehi
  • Jared Dallin, Lehi
  • Craig Frank, Lehi
  • Heidi Balderree, Saratoga Springs
  • Yolanda “Nikki” Walker, Lehi
  • Garrett Cammans, Lehi
  • Wade Eyerly, Lehi
  • David Gray, Lehi

Michael McOmber was running but has since withdrawn, according to the special election website.

The candidates will speak at Mountain Ridge Junior High School in Highland on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. before voting begins.

‘KSL at Night’ will be broadcasting live from the caucus with live updates, and, if all goes to plan, the hosts are hoping to interview Utah’s newest state senator live before the conclusion of the show at 9.
