Beulah Fire reaches 1,723 acres

SALT LAKE CITY — After first being reported on Thursday, the Uinta Mountains Beulah Fire reached 1,723 acres on Saturday.
The Utah Fire Info said at least 184 personnel were helping to fight the fire, including the use of two scooper planes and helicopters.
According to the UFI, firefighters may have challenges fighting the fire due to the rocky terrain in the area and because of fire-weakened and dead trees. Although, the UFI said it hopes to have less wind in the area over the weekend while firefighters work with lower-than-normal temperatures.
“The winds will gradually weaken, becoming light and terrain-driven on Sunday,” the UFI stated in a news release. “The vegetation in the area is extremely dry with fuel moisture conditions at critically low levels, and firefighters are observing erratic and extreme fire behavior.”
According to UFI, the fire is located around 7.5 miles southeast of the Bear River Ranger Station, located off of Highway 150.

“The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest issued a closure order on (Friday) for areas surrounding the fire,” the UFI stated.

- The East Fork Blacks Fork Road
- The East Fork Blacks Fork Trail
- Stillwater Trail and the lands between
“Stage one fire restrictions have been imposed for the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache and Ashley national forests while stage two fire restrictions remain in place on all other Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and state land in Utah,”
The UFI said firefighters are prioritizing firefighter and public safety.
