Grass fire contained in Garland near I-15

GARLAND — On Friday afternoon, a fast-moving grass fire started on I-15 Northbound near mile marker 383 in Garland.
At approximately 2:00 pm several 911 calls were received about the fire.
The Garland Fire Department, via a post on Facebook, said crews were able to quickly get the fire under control.
They also thanked the Box Elder County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Tremonton Fire Department for their assistance.
The Garland Fire Department also cautioned that even a small spark can start a fire especially with the current dry conditions and high winds.
The department urged to not toss cigarettes from your car, avoid dragging chains or parking over dry grass and to report fires by calling 911.
This is just one of several fires that started on Friday afternoon.
