Cache County School District apologizes for not holding a snow day

CACHE COUNTY, Utah — Cache County School District officials apologized on Tuesday for choosing to keep its schools on a regular schedule.
The school district decided against a snow day Tuesday morning despite weather conditions.
But as the morning wore on, KSL Meteorologist Kevin Eubank said, the snow piled up.
“Overnight they ended up with 4-7 inches up in Wellsville, to Logan, and up in the Woodruff area,” Eubank said.
In a press release, the district said as the weather got worse, officials realized it at least warranted a late state.
By that time though, the district said students were already on their way to school.
The district said it consulted with the Utah Department of Transporation and weather forecasts at 5:30 a.m. before conditions deteriorated. The district said it has to make its decisions about snow days and delays by that time.
“None of us anticipated that much snow. This was one of those storms that snuck in,” Eubank said.
In its statement, district officials indicated they’d try to find ways to improve their performance.
