Ice Castles close early due to warm weather

MIDWAY — A popular winter attraction in Utah is ending early because of the shorter-than-expected winter season.
On Friday, the Utah Ice Castles announced it will close for the season earlier than expected.
“We tried to stay open as long as the weather would let us, and unfortunately, it has been much warmer than anyone could have anticipated,” said Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird in a press release.
The castles were only open for about three weeks for the 2025 season. Last year, the attraction was open for about five weeks.
According to the Ice Castles, it stays open for about four to six weeks yearly, making 2025 one of the shorter seasons.
“As a weather dependent event, we never know how long we will be able to operate each season,” according to the Ice Castle press release. “This winter, Mother Nature decided she only wanted a short dance with winter.”
In 2023, the Ice Castles experienced its longest season as it opened on Dec. 21, 2022, and closed on Feb. 25, 2023.
