Utah to see near-record highs through the weekend

SALT LAKE CITY — It’s going to feel unseasonably warm in northern Utah for the next few days with near-record highs.  This will be the case for the next four days, beginning Thursday with a projected high of 90 degrees in Salt Lake City.

“If we hit 90 today, at least at the airport, that would tie the previous record high. I think most locations will be in the upper 80s,” said KSL Meteorologist Devan Masciulli.

The projected high is 90 degrees again on Friday. As for the weekend, the temperature are expected to reach 93 degrees on Saturday and 92 degrees on Sunday, which would break daily records on both days. 

Along with the near-record highs, there is no rain in the forecast for the next seven days.

However, as we head into next week temperatures will cool off.

“A weak cool front is going to move through northern Utah Sunday night into Monday. That will drop temperatures into the low 80s,” said Masciulli.

Highs in the low 80s is still considered above average. According to U.S. Climate Data, the average high temperature in northern Utah this time of year is 78 degrees.
