Air conditioning unit stolen from Taylorsville animal clinic

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — During the hot months of summer, an air conditioning unit is vital for the health and safety of both humans and animals.

The air conditioning unit at the Midvalley Animal Clinic was stolen Monday night. Office manager Shirley Hendricks tells KSL NewsRadio they’re working as quickly as possible to fix the situation.

“Stress can raise the temperature of our pets and some of them being sick as well,” she said. “And so, if they come in with a slightly elevated fever, then that’s OK, or a slightly elevated temperature. But we don’t want to compound that with extra heat.”

Hendricks says they first noticed the theft when the clinic became unusually warm.

“When we looked outside, we noticed there is no air conditioner here,” she said. “I don’t think we can fix that. So, it got pretty hot yesterday.”

 Hendricks says the clinic is in the middle of an expansion and renovation, which will now include a new air conditioning unit. She says it will cost roughly $6,000 to replace the air conditioner.
