‘All In’ campaign aims to mitigate the spread of COVID-19

SALT LAKE CITY — As Utah’s COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise, businesses and the health care industry in Utah banded together to create ‘All In’ campaign, aimed at mitigating the spread of COVID-19 over the holiday season.

On Tuesday, the Utah Department of Health reported 3,178 new cases of COVID-19. Additionally, UDOH reported nine more deaths and a new record of 512 current coronavirus hospitalizations.
The All In campaign against COVID-19
Community members, medical leaders and business owners pleaded with the public to protect themselves and follow health guidelines.
“The calvary’s not coming. We are the calvary, and we can change the tide of this disease,” Dr. Marc Harrison, president and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare, said.
Harrison joined Gail Miller, of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, Qualtrics founder Ryan Smith, and Deseret Management Corporation CEO Keith McMullin for a news conference announcing the campaign.
The ‘All In’ campaign encourages Utahns to be “all-in” to fight COVID-19 and stop the spread. Harrison said it’s up to state residents to become healthcare heroes and help “turn the tide of this pandemic.”
McMullin agreed there is a problem in Utah with COVID-19. He compared this era to 1847 when the pioneers first entered the Salt Lake Valley.
“When they crested the mountains to the east of us and said, ‘This is the right place,’ they knew that they had accomplished something wonderful. Then they moved forward in that same spirit,” he said.
McMullin is asking residents to do the same: work together, overcome the coronavirus and move on to something wonderful.
“I am greatly concerned by the trends of this COVID-19 virus in our midst in Utah and across the nation. But I have great faith in this country, and I have absolute faith in this state and its people,” McMullin said.
The ‘All In’ campaign supports face coverings, social distancing, and proper hygiene practices.

How To Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus
COVID-19 coronavirus spreads person to person, similar to the common cold and the flu. So, to prevent it from spreading:
- Wash hands frequently and thoroughly, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
- Don’t touch your face.
- Wear a mask to protect yourself and others per CDC recommendations.
- Keep children and those with compromised immune systems away from someone who is coughing or sneezing (in this instance, at least six feet).
- If there is an outbreak near you, practice social distancing (stay at home, instead of going to the movies, sports events, or other activities).
- Get a flu shot.
