Utah sees a new daily record of 546 COVID-19 cases

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Utah Department of Health reported an increase of 546 COVID-19 cases Saturday — which is a new record for reported cases in a single day, overcoming Friday’s record-breaking tally. The department has also reported one new death.
The new death brings the total to 121 COVID-19 deaths in Utah so far. The person who died was a male Weber County long-term facility resident who was older than 85 years old.
Total hospitalizations have reached 890 cases, which is 20 more than Friday. There are 116 positive COVID-19 cases currently hospitalized.
There have been 235,149 people tested for the virus and 6,939 cases considered to be recovered.
How To Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus
COVID-19 coronavirus is transmitted from person to person. It is a virus that is similar to the common cold and the flu. So, to prevent it from spreading:
- Wash hands frequently and thoroughly, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
- Don’t touch your face.
- Keep children and those with compromised immune systems away from someone who is coughing or sneezing (in this instance, at least six feet)
- If there is an outbreak near you, practice social distancing (stay at home, instead of going to the movies, sports events, or other activities.)
- Get a flu shot.
