Weber State donates ventilators, medical equipment to healthcare facilities

OGDEN, Utah — Weber State University is donating ventilators and personal protective equipment (PPE) to local hospitals and healthcare facilities to aid the shortage of supplies during the pandemic.
Weber State gave critical resources, such as masks, ventilators, and gloves, to McKay-Dee Hospital, Midtown Community Health Center, and Ogden Clinic.
Faculty at the university’s College of Health Professions noticed important equipment going unused after classes switched to online. The college reached out to surrounding healthcare organizations to see if they could use the help.
The College of Health Professions lent a total of 15 ventilators to McKay-Dee Hospital. They also sent 200 N95 masks, 800 patient masks, 200 fluid-resistant gowns, 110 bottles of hand sanitizer, 200 head covers, gloves, and eye goggles to Midtown Community Health Center and Ogden Clinic.
“We are so appreciative of the outpouring of support from the community, specifically Weber State University and their donation of necessary medical supplies to our frontline employees,” said Ogden Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Porter. “It is great to see the positive impact of collaboration and support.”
Weber State will refurbish the ventilators once McKay-Dee no longer needs them.
How To Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus
COVID-19 coronavirus is transmitted from person to person. It is a virus that is similar to the common cold and the flu. So, to prevent it from spreading:
- Wash hands frequently and thoroughly, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
- Don’t touch your face.
- Keep children and those with compromised immune systems away from someone who is coughing or sneezing (in this instance, at least six feet)
- If there is an outbreak near you, practice social distancing (stay at home, instead of going to the movies, sports events, or other activities.)
- Get a flu shot.
