SALT LAKE CITY — COVID-19 vaccines are now recommended for children as young as 6 months old and Utah health officials have ordered 32,000 doses in response to the new guidelines.

Where can you find a vaccine for your child?

Local resources

Utah has a coronavirus website to keep track of updates and resources. The site advises that “vaccines for children are available for walk-ins or scheduled appointments at all local health departments.”

Contact the health state department at 1-800-456-7707.t 1-800-456-7707.

A list of additional local health departments and their contact information can be found on Utah’s coronavirus site here.

National resources

The CDC has a website dedicated to locating COVID-19 vaccines. The site allows users to search using their ZIP code. Users can choose which vaccine to search for, and each age group has its own listing for each vaccine.

The vaccines are listed by age group because the dosage is based on body weight. Furthermore, children’s doses of the COVID-19 vaccines are a fraction of what adult doses are.

  • The Pfizer vaccine is separated into three age groups: 6 months to 4 years old, 5 to 11 years old, 12 years and up and 18 years and up.
  • The Moderna vaccine is separated into two age groups: 6 months to 5 years old, and 18 years old and up. The vaccine has not been authorized for ages 6 to 17 years old as of June 23.
  • The Johnson and Johnson vaccine only has one age group; 18 and up, as it has not been authorized for anyone under 18.

A deeper look into the site by ABC News can be found here.
