NBC and IOC extend media rights for Olympic coverage until 2036

SALT LAKE CITY — The International Olympic Committee has signed a $3 billion deal with Comcast NBCUniversal to allow the American-based network to broadcast the Olympic Games until 2036.
On Thursday, the IOC said the agreement allows NBC stations to broadcast the games and accepts the network as a strategic partner to help new “innovative joint strategic initiatives and projects.”
This deal secures the rights for NBC stations, like KSL TV, to broadcast the announced next five Games, including the upcoming 2034 Salt Lake City Winter Games.

The deal expands Olympic coverage options
According to the press release, the Olympic coverage partnership will allow the Olympic Games to be shown on more digital platforms and in-venue distribution of the live TV coverage.
NBC has been a broadcast partner of the Olympics since the 1964 Tokyo Summer Games, airing a total of 19 Olympic Games, including the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games.
