A fresh dining experience is coming to downtown on June 30th

The Garden Restaurant will open its doors on Monday, June 30th, in the historic Joseph Smith Memorial Building in downtown Salt Lake City. Located at the corner of South Temple and Main, the restaurant is a revamped version of the former dining experience on the tenth floor, which was closed for two and a half years during the Temple Square Renovation.

Now that the opening is on the horizon, visitors can enjoy street access to a new lunch spot featuring fresh, hand-crafted, and locally sourced food in a thoughtfully renovated space. The Garden is a great go-to lunch destination for visitors, workers, and other residents of the city.

The Garden Restaurant is serving historic charm with local flair

Conveniently located near City Creek and Temple Square, The Garden is proudly situated in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where The Nauvoo used to be. Visitors can enjoy their meals on the patio, in the beautifully renovated dining area, or the main lobby of the historic building.

The Garden Restaurant is the first restaurant to open as part of the Temple Square renovation project, which seamlessly blends modern design with timeless elegance, preserving the historical aspects of the buildings.

Locally sourced, carefully crafted menu

Featuring a delicious selection of savory soups, fresh salads, and made-to-order sandwiches, the updated menu at The Garden offers both classic favorites and new flavors. Prior visitors will enjoy classic favorites, such as the Turkey Pot Pie and Lion House Roll, which remain featured on the menu.

The Garden is also committed to using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, supporting regional farmers, and ensuring that every dish is served to hungry customers at peak freshness. Try the new additions, such as the Grilled Cheese Sandwich or Ginger Sesame Salad, or opt for a combo featuring a half sandwich and soup, accompanied by a rotating daily special or a fixed selection of savory flavors.

And, of course, no good menu would be complete without satisfying your sweet tooth. The Garden’s dessert menu features cookies, raspberry tarts, and cinnamon rolls to delight your senses.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite between meetings or settling in for a relaxed lunch with colleagues, The Garden’s inviting atmosphere makes it the perfect midday escape. The restaurant’s refreshed interior features cozy seating and natural light, creating a warm and welcoming space to enjoy your meal. For those on the go, convenient takeout options ensure you don’t have to sacrifice flavor for speed.

The Garden offers a new experience with quick lunch service and will be open Monday through Friday from 11 am to 3 pm. Walk up by taking public transit to the Temple Square TRAX station or park under the Joseph Smith Memorial Building by accessing it while heading west on South Temple Street.
