SALT LAKE CITY — A Canadian hockey player who was set to play against the Utah Hockey Club was hit by a car Monday.
Salt Lake City police told KSL TV that the crash happened at 2:55 p.m. near 200 E. 500 South. However, when officers arrived, they couldn’t find the person who made the report, the passerby or the pedestrian.
“Later in the evening, officers received information from a nearby business, which reported having information likely associated with the crash. Officers learned the pedestrian was a Montreal Canadiens hockey team player,” SLCPD said in a statement.
The Montreal Canadiens confirmed that Emil Heineman was the pedestrian hit in the accident. While Heineman did not show signs of serious injuries, his upper body was hurt, and he was unable to play for about three to four weeks, according to the team.
