SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz handed the Oklahoma City Thunder a pounding defeat, with a score of 113-96 Monday night.

Rookie Donovan Mitchell also made history, by setting a rookie post-season single game scoring record at 33 points. Mitchell passed Karl Malone’s 31 points tallied on April 20th, 1986 in a playoff matchup against Dallas.

The game was a physical matchup with several players from both teams penalized by technical fouls, including: Paul George, Steven Adams, and Raymond Felton drawing one each for the Thunder. Quin Snyder, Joe Ingles, Rudy Gobert, and Jae Crowder all drew single technicals for the Jazz. Crowder was ejected on his technical during a scuffle with Carmelo Anthony in which he pulled his arm away, hitting the face of Adams who was standing behind him.

The win elevates the Jazz to lead the series 3-1, but the next matchup moves back to Oklahoma City on Wednesday night.
