“My son is incredibly, smart, ever since he was in kindergarten teachers have struggled to understand him. He was diagnosed with ADHD, the inattentive kind. He takes longer to get work done. At every parent teacher conference I would leave crying because nobody took time to get to know him. Miss Phillips, however, has ADHD herself.
At his first parent teacher conference with her she came with ideas and resources of things that would help him and things that she sees that he is good at. My son is the opposite of defiant, and it feels good to have a teacher see that his struggles does not make him a bad kid. She isn’t like this with just my child though, she says the good in every student, every student feels like they are her favorite. I do social media for the school, so I get to see a lot of the returning students when they come back, and they all run to her. What a real gift she is to not only teaching kids, but helping their confidence. She is the math teacher and for the first year ever my kid is excelling at math.”
