“It is my pleasure to nominate Mrs. Cherie Blackburn for recognition for her outstanding service to students and education in Wayne School District. Mrs. Blackburn is currently in her 38th year of teaching, and her dedication to students and learning continues to inspire everyone around her.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Blackburn has served the district in many important roles. She has taught kindergarten and second grade, served as a reading specialist, and even worked as a principal. Today, she brings this wealth of knowledge and experience into her fourth-grade classroom, where she continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her students.
Mrs. Blackburn is widely known as a favorite teacher among students and families. She builds strong relationships with both parents and students, working closely with them to ensure that every child has the opportunity to read on or above grade level. Her deep understanding of literacy instruction and her commitment to supporting each learner help students build both academic skills and confidence.
What truly sets Mrs. Blackburn apart is her unwavering dedication to helping students succeed. She not only focuses on academic growth, but also works to build students’ self-esteem and belief in themselves as learners. Her encouragement, patience, and expertise have helped generations of Wayne School District students develop a love for learning and the confidence to achieve their goals.
Mrs. Blackburn’s long-standing commitment, instructional excellence, and genuine care for children make her an invaluable member of our district.
