“Miss Detweiler is the epitome of going the extra mile as a teacher! Christine teaches theatre, and work for her school year starts nearly a year in advance, as she searches for shows that will showcase the upcoming talent she has in her program. Work continues all summer as she begins planning rehearsals, costumes, set, etc. for the year ahead. From the first week of school to the very last, she puts in extra hours with rehearsals, performances, coaching students, region and state competitions, supervising technicians, and so much more! With six different preps, she has her work cut out for her, but still is a stellar teacher for all of her theatre and technical students.
Okay, that first part is what she DOES, but now let’s talk about who she IS! Christine is an enthusiastic and compassionate teacher who truly strives to give each student the best experience possible in her classes and shows. She tries to help each student be the best they can at whatever they are doing! More importantly, she encourages each of her students to be good, kind, responsible, and compassionate human beings. She’s the type of person who will eat lunch in her classroom in order to meet with student leadership, will be the last car in the parking lot at the end of the day to help coach a student with a college audition, and will create an inviting space for many kids who don’t fit in in other places. She has helped my children professionally, academically, and personally, and I know there are countless other students out there that feel the same way. Miss Detweiler is the best!”
