“I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional contributions of two outstanding team teachers at Treeside Charter School in Provo, Utah, Mrs. Rasmussen, and Miss Duncan. As the 3rd and 4th grade teachers of my child, Jancen, they have gone above and beyond in providing a supportive, nurturing, and effective learning environment, particularly in addressing his unique challenges related to learning disabilities.
Jancen has struggled with reading, writing, and math, and he has a processing delay that can make it difficult to keep pace with his peers. Mrs. Rasmussen and Miss Duncan have been instrumental in helping Jancen succeed. They have worked with him individually, ensuring he receives the accommodations to stay regulated in class. Their hands-on approach to learning has been particularly effective, as they skillfully connect the mind, heart, and hands to create a healthy and engaging learning environment for all students.
In addition to their academic support, both teachers have shown remarkable sensitivity and understanding in fostering Jancen’s mental well-being. They introduced basic mental health lessons to the class, helping his classmates understand Jancen’s five-second processing delay and teaching them to give him the time to respond without feeling rushed or embarrassed. This approach has not only benefited Jancen but has also promoted empathy and patience among his peers.
Mrs. Rasmussen and Miss Duncan have also been instrumental in establishing an educational plan for Jancen that will ensure his long-term success. Through their guidance and advocacy, Jancen has a path forward that aligns with his learning needs.
It is rare to find teachers who are so dedicated to their students’ overall well-being and success, both academically and emotionally. Mrs. Rasmussen and Miss Duncan exemplify the qualities of extraordinary educators, and their efforts have profoundly impacted Jancen’s growth and confidence in his abilities. I am deeply grateful for their unwavering support and dedication.”
