“Mrs. Luo has had a pivotal role for learning Chinese at West High. She is a diligent, and extremely patient teacher, who never misses a day. Her class has changed the lives of many since West High had Chinese. She has been teaching for almost 20 years, helping thousands of students master Mandarin. It is extremely displeasing that my school, the school I trust is removing the Mandarin Program COMPLETELY sand forever. Mrs. Lou’s class and herself have helped countless students find jobs abroad, have a unique, and very special privilege to know another language. As Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world, many students should have the right to learn it from Mrs. Luo. I feel that this prize will bring more recognition for Mrs. Luo, and help save our Mandarin Program.
It’s been hard for her ever since this announcement was made, and it breaks my heart to see her like this. Helping her out would give a second chance to all of us in the program. She engages in fun activities for us to learn about the Chinese culture. She helps Chinese Americans like me not forget my culture, and learn how to not only speak it, but how to learn how to read and write it. It helps kids unlike me learn something new, and different, especially if they don’t have Chinese-speaking parents. She has dedicated herself to teaching children a new language, and is definitely one of the hardest working teachers at West. Please consider her, because she is wonderful and deserves to take a break from what’s going on right now. Thank You. ”
