“Heather is an amazing teacher who knows how to connect with her students! She loves teaching and has taught sixth, seventh, and eighth graders over the last 22 years. She currently teaches reading to seventh graders. She utilizes texts that are interesting and engaging for 12 and 13-year-olds, while teaching skills necessary to comprehend difficult texts. Heather’s energy and love for her students helps her build relationships of trust. Students know they can be themselves in Ms. Reich’s class and that she will work with them until they are competent at the skills being taught.
Heather’s students have had top scores on state testing for students from highly impacted communities multiple times. She believes that every student can learn and supports all students to learn. She knows that the cumulative effect of small teaching moments with students each day makes a difference. Her students have said, “She makes work fun,” and “Ms. Reich motivates us to do our work.” Heather radiates joy when she talks about “her kids”!”
