“Jamie Jo Porter has worked at Bear River High school for about 4 years now and has been nothing but a light to everyone. She sets such an example for all students and staff. Jamie Jo makes the students feel so seen and cared for, even the ones who haven’t had her as a teacher! She comes into class everyday with a positive attitude, even on days when she’s not feeling good, she keeps on going anyways. Jamie recently overcame a hard divorce, that took a toll on her mental health and her kids. She is one tough lady tho, because she managed to power through all of that while still changing lives at Bear River High! I have heard multiple people say how she makes school worth going to or even how her presence/ kindness has saved someone’s life. Jamie is so loved here that she was asked to be an advisor for the schools student council!! She teaches language arts and AP literature. Kids will literally fill up her classes so fast purely based on the fact that Ms. Porter will be their teacher! Jamie is also well loved by the staff, she makes good friends with them and is just so inclusive. She makes the workplace a fun and safe environment for her coworkers and it shows!! As a student, Jamie really is one of the only teachers I know that genuinely cares about her students and their well beings. She has overcome a lot and still continues to change lives. Jamie Jo Porter deserves all of the love, and I think she is the definition of what a good teacher should be like.”
