I am honored to nominate Ms. Jean Sesera for KSL’s Teacher Tribute. She is a dedicated and inspiring educator who goes above and beyond to support her students and colleagues every day.
Jean’s teaching career has spanned the gambit—from Kindergarten to a unique 5th-6th grade split class in the Curriculum and Assessment Lab. Currently, she serves as the 3rd grade Magnet Gifted & Talented teacher at Indian Hills in the Salt Lake City School District.
This school year has been one of immense change for Jean. With the closure of her previous school, she faced a transition to a new building, a new grade level, and the additional responsibility of mentoring new 1st and 4th grade teachers on her Magnet GT team. Despite these challenges, Jean has not only adapted—she has thrived. She continues to foster a love of learning in her students, create a supportive and engaging classroom environment, and uplift those around her with her expertise and encouragement.
Jean cares deeply about her students, both academically and personally. She closely monitors each student’s growth and celebrates their progress, making them feel proud of their achievements. She instills a sense of independence and a “can-do” attitude in her students, empowering them to take ownership of their learning. Her warm, gregarious personality makes everyone feel welcome and loved. She greets every child she meets with genuine interest, always asking thoughtful questions and truly listening to their answers. She speaks to her students the way she would to a friend, making them feel valued, respected, and important.
Jean Sesera exemplifies what it means to be a truly outstanding educator. She meets every challenge with grace, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to her students and peers. She is more than deserving of this recognition, and I sincerely hope she is considered for KSL’s Teacher Tribute.”
