“As an Executive Director of a K-12 charter school I am completely reliant on others and their best efforts in meeting the needs of the community at large and our students within our community. As a newly hired educational leader, moving to Vernal and not having established community connections, I will admit, I was concerned with the possible impact on our 2025-26 school year.
But Jen Foley, has simply put, “been an amazing leader, community member and contributor to positive impacts”.
At the beginning of the school year, right before class started we lost our school Athletic Director, a key position responsible for all of the school sports programs, hiring coaches and coordinating across the sports league. Jen jumped right in, contributed to a game schedule, keeps the school informed of upcoming games. But this is not all, she saw a real need for a Boys Volleyball team, something that had never been done before. So she volunteered and led the boys to a phenomenal 1st year as the head coach.
As a community member she interacts with students and parents. Works tirelessly as a 6th grade teacher to build community connections that benefit students. One example that stands out in my mind was her organization and contributions to our school Fall Festival. She was key in helping students, parents and other volunteers in the community come together and sell donated baked goods and treats. Her efforts were a significant part of the $10,000 raised for the whole school.
Finally, her contributions have been impactful and positive. She attends school board meetings, shares her best ideas in faculty meetings and is open and willing to new activities. By being so positive and ever ready to contribute, she sets and example to other to join in and participate, which by definition is the purpose of community.
I am thankful for her continual contributions, her unending efforts to help students and sense of community.”
