Jennilyn McKenna, Goshen Elementary

“She has had a really difficult class in second grade this year. Her class has 26 students with most of them coming from difficult family situations. Over half of her class is performing below standard even after all of her efforts in the classroom. Because of her class’ poor performance she is required to document their learning progress. Most classes have one of two students who struggle but in her case it is half the class. She has recently come back to teaching after raising her 4 kids who are still in school. She is wondering if all of this effort is really worth it. I want to nominate her because I know all the work she is putting in and I know it will be worth the effort for the kids she teaches.”
