“Miss Joey goes above and beyond with her students.
At the beginning of the school year she does an assessment with each child to learn that childs learning style. She then teaches to each students style! This means some students are learning by sitting in a desk being lectured, some are at a hands on learning station that allows them to be up and moving while getting the information, some are reading the information, she is always adapting her lessons to make sure EVERY child is getting it in a way that is most natural and comfortable for the child. This is an incredibly huge task to take on when she could easily just make and reuse lesson plans instead of individualizing them each year. We’ve never had a teacher with so much dedication and love for all her students.
Not only is she constantly coming up with fresh learning plans and techniques to keep the students engaged but she also offers free tutoring after school twice a week to ensure all kids are staying on track and feeling confident. Teaching is incredibly demanding and time consuming. For her to take what little time she has after school and dedicate it to her students out side of school hours to keep them thriving is incredible to watch.
While on Spring Break I had a concern and sent an email expecting a response when she got back. Miss Joey responded while on spring break with a plan to help my kiddo! This once again demonstrated that she doesn’t just care about her class while on the clock. She genuinely cares about them always.
Lastly Miss Joey has a wicked cool sense of humor. My son loves a good dad joke and she often indulges him in allowing him to share his wit or a joke with the class. They have a fun banter that makes him look at Miss Joey as a friend who teaches him rather than a task master. If Miss Joey can get my math hating child to not only NOT hate math but actually ENJOY his time during math, I can promise you she is a miracle worker!
Miss Joey spends a lot of her free time and personal money on making sure her class has everything possible to make learning exciting. I’d love for her to be rewarded with something in return and remind her that she’s making a big impact in kids and parents lives!”
