“I am not one of Kara’s kindergarten kids, but I wish I had been. Not only is Kara a dedicated teacher, she is an amazing person. I have known her for many years, and I am so grateful to call her my best friend, she listens to me, shares her adventures, and takes joy in learning new things, and teaching others of all ages. I learn from her continually, she has shown me how to have more patience, and kindness for others, especially my own children. She has a common sense, no fuss approach to everything she does, which empowers others around her to strive to do their best, especially with young children, who must learn to be independent and brave. She is like Wonder Woman, a champion for others, with truth and mercy guiding the way, doing hard things. Kara brings fun and imagination to each lesson. In school, she mentors new teachers and supports her team. Helps struggling students feel safe and loved. Works to bring technology to Kindergarten, has both online and face to face students in two classes per day and works so all can have their needs met, every day. She loves getting her room ready each year, decorating a bright colorful inviting room, she spends many hours preparing lessons, programs and crafts, for holidays and events, such as the 100th day of school, and graduation, personalizing each year to her current students. I can’t count the number of times I have asked what she is up to, only to hear she is working on school items, giving up many hours of free time. Kara was a person born to be a teacher, her students are very lucky to have her on their sides, not just today, but tomorrow and into the future.
