“Josh Curtis or Major Curtis is a great teacher for countless reasons ranging from shooting tootsie rolls at us through a PVC pipe to having talks with students when they need to get something off there chest. I am especially glad that I met major Curtis I came to Utah Military Academy after a rough time going through multiple schools and struggling with my emotions and self esteem. As soon as I got to UMA I was put into a class that Major Curtis taught and the first day I got shot in the face by a squirt gun for answering a question wrong and the whole class including me busted up laughing for about two minutes. After a few days of class I got to Know Major Curtis when we did a class to get to know you and found out that he had ADHD And that I also had a ADHD and also ODD. Many times I struggled with my emotions and things at home and he would be able to see through my happy act and ask what was wrong he was the one teacher that when asking what was wrong I felt safe telling him what was wrong. Being a major and just an amazing teacher got me thinking about going into the military and a year after I did just that. Major Curtis has been such a role model for all the students at UMA. He cares about all the students at UMA and if anyone one got to know him like I have they would say the exact same thing. He is the best teacher you could have.”
