“I would like to nominate Miriam Rees for the KSL Teacher Tribute
She has done many things that make her deserving of this award.
It was a long road for her to earn her teaching degree. She has five children and had to provide an income for them as well as work towards her degree. She established a preschool— employing four teachers and teaching about 75 students. She did this for eight years while working to secure her degree.
She was hired to teach kindergarten at Foxboro Elementary in the Davis School District. and has taught 11 years at Foxboro Elementary. She presently teaches the English portion in the French emersion program for fifth and sixth grade students. Because of this, she teaches over 60 students each day and enjoys working with all ofthese students..
Throughout her years at Foxboro, she has taught kindergarten, sixth grade, fourth-fifth French emersion, second-third split class and third grade. She has a method of teaching where the student’s love and excel. Each year she has a theme for her classroom with a song that goes along with the theme. When the students arrive at class, the song is playing along with greetings from their teacher. Last year she had a theme using jump ropes. The song was Life Is Like a Jump
Rope Each student received a jump rope and lessons throughout the year centered around the theme.
She works well with her students, parents and faculty. One year a student from her class that she had taught the year before. was hurt and had to be transported by ambulance to Primary Children’s hospital.
The mother was unable to ride in the ambulance and the student wanted Ms. Rees to ride with him in the ambulance which she was glad to do. Present and former students enjoy coming to visit her and telling her what they are doing and ask her for advise. She loves teaching and students.
Because of her teaching skills and the love she has for her school, students and her job, I am nominating her for this tribute award.
Thank you so much!!”
