Mrs. Beverly Cannon, Utah County Academy of Science

“Mrs. Cannon is a very thoughtful and dedicated teacher who not only helps students understand the mathematics that she teaches, but helps them to enjoy the process of learning. She is also extremely patient with those who struggle and helps them continue progressing. In addition, Mrs. Cannon frequently stays after school to help students with extra questions and is not compensated for this time. The number of hours she spends outside the classroom trying to help improve the learning environment for her students while they’re in school is quite substantial.

While in class she encourages her students to never be afraid of asking questions and trying creative solutions to difficult problems. It is a rare and exceptional teacher who can leave students unafraid to try and fail as many times as needed to find a solution when confronted with a particularly arduous question or problem.”
