“Mrs. Cragun is a first-year teacher, when most are leaving the profession, she is joining the ranks. She has taken on the challenge of being one of the first all-day kindergarten teachers in the state of Utah. She teaches in a small school district with limited district support services. In her class of 25 students, she has students who are performing well above kindergarten level and those students who started the year at a little disadvantage. She has one young man who spoke no English on arriving for his first day of school. She had a few years of Spanish in her Middle School and High School courses. But has renewed her efforts to learn the Spanish language to help this student. Without Mrs. Cragun I cannot imagine this little guy’s days in a school where he did not understand anything that was being said. Kindergarten is such a mile-stone, I am glad she is there to help.”
