Mrs. Karrie Wardell, South Jordan Elementary

“Mrs. Wardell is phenomenal. She has our son James in her class. James was diagnosed with leukemia last year. There are many things that are hard for him. It is hard for him to write very long because of the neuropathy in his hands. She makes accomodations to help James stay on track and go at his own pace. She calls out the good in each student. One day James came home from school with a plastic braclet that had “I am trustworthy” written on it. James has worn that bracelet for months. She helps each student discover the good within themselves and others. She does mindfulness activities with the kids and teaches kindness through modeling and positive correction. She is wonderful. We are so grateful to have her as a teacher as this is James first year back to school after being so sick with cancer most of last year.”
