“I am writing to enthusiastically nominate my colleague, Mrs. Abrams, a phenomenal 4th-grade teacher at Peruvian Park, for the KSL Teacher tribute wall. She embodies the spirit of going above and beyond her standard teaching duties, demonstrating an unparalleled dedication to student enrichment.
Mrs. Abrams noticed a need and an interest among her students for more in-depth learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In response, she took the initiative to design and implement an engaging, hands-on before-school STEM class, completely voluntarily. This is a tremendous commitment; she arrives early every morning to provide this opportunity for her students, well outside her contract hours.
Her before-school program is not just extra class time; it is a vibrant learning environment where students explore complex concepts through projects like building simple robots, understanding basic coding, and experimenting with physics principles. She has a unique ability to make these challenging subjects accessible and exciting for 4th graders, helping them build confidence and a genuine love for learning. Students who previously showed little interest in math or science are now actively engaged and excited to tackle new challenges.
Beyond the classroom, she serves as a mentor, a positive influence, and a guiding light for her students and peers. Her strong work ethic and creative teaching methods make her a truly deserving candidate for this recognition. Mrs. Abrams is making a profound, positive impact on our students’ lives, setting the foundation for their future academic success. She fully deserves this honor.”
