“When a young lady calls to invite you her first grade teacher to her wedding, you know you made a difference in her world. She said how she had a difficult time learning but because of Monarch butterfly’s and raising baby chicks from eggs, learning became fun and interesting. Another student with Autism left his computer to come get a graduation gift from his teacher. His mother said “you are the only one he moved for, he never leaves his computer, you really reached him”. The parent teachers association honored her for her work with first graders at Hobblecreek. She collects Monarch eggs and leaves every Autumn to start their learning journey kindergarten year off with a fun activity and then ends with incubating eggs and allowing the students to see the small lifeforms inside the shell, throughout their life cycle. They have a Queen and King ball which their parents are invited to as a culminating activity to their unit on Kings And Queens. She try’s to make learning come alive and be meaningful requiring her students to always give their best effort which is different for each one and each student is responsible for their learning.”
