SALT LAKE CITY — A driver escaped with minor injuries after their car slid off the road in Big Cottonwood Canyon Friday, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver slid off just before 1:30 p.m. on state Route 190, near the S-curves, officials said. It wasn’t clear if the car went into the river or if it just went down a ravine.
The driver was able to get out of the car, and officials were working on recovering the car as of 2:30 p.m.
Access to the canyon was shut down until road conditions improved, so there was no estimated time it would reopen.
