7 injured, 2 critical after crash at Mountain View Corridor intersection

SALT LAKE CITY — Two people are in critical condition after being involved in an accident on Mountain View Corridor early Saturday morning in West Valley.

Lt. Jason Vincent with the West Valley City Police Department said the accident included two vehicles, one was a truck carrying one driver and the other was a passenger car carrying six people.

According to Vincent, the accident happened at 4:30 a.m. in the intersection of 3500 S Mountain View corridor when the truck and passenger car collided.

“Several individuals from the passenger car were transported to the hospital,” Vincent said.

According to Vincent, two people are in critical condition, two others are in moderate condition to serious condition, and the last people involved in the accident had suffered minor injuries.

Vincent said investigators are still investigating the accident and are trying to figure out how the accident occurred.

“We’re looking at both speeding and impairment as being factors,” Vincent said. “It’s still obviously early on and things are pretty dynamic at the moment. So we’re uh, just asking the general motoring public to try and avoid the area.”

On Saturday, roads were shut down at westbound on 3500 S from 5600 W, and eastbound on 3500 S from Mountain View Corridor due to the crash.
