Man hit and killed by car in Provo Sunday afternoon

SALT LAKE CITY — One man is dead after being hit by a car in Provo Sunday afternoon.
In a press release from the Provo Police Department, the department stated that a 72-year-old man was hit as he was crossing the street near 1980 N. State St. According to police, this took place “just after” 1 p.m.
Janna-Lee Holland with the Provo Police Department identified the man on Monday as Maries Johnybear.
The man was on a mobility scooter when was crossing the street. Police said he was not at an intersection or using a crosswalk at the time of the incident.
