MIDVALE, Utah — A man is in critical condition after being hit by a work truck while crossing a crosswalk in Midvale on Tuesday morning.
Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler said the accident happened around 7:30 a.m.
According to Cutler, the man was crossing an intersection crosswalk when a work truck ran a red light and hit him. The impact threw the man about 40 or 50 feet.
The man is in “extremely critical condition,” and was taken to a local hospital.
Cutler said the driver stayed at the scene and called the police, as did some witnesses. Police are still investigating, but as of now, they said there was no “obvious” sign of the driver being impaired.
Cutler added that police believe the “sun may have been a factor” in the accident, and reminded drivers to take precautions against the sun to avoid any accidents.
