POCATELLO, Idaho — A 30-vehicle crash on eastbound I-86 west of Pocatello shut down eastbound lanes of the freeway on Monday morning. Traffic between exits 56 and 59 was blocked according to Idaho State Police.
Within a short amount of time, visibility became limited for drivers due to a thick layer of fog said police.
“Personal and commercial vehicles ran into each other causing a chain reaction of approximately 30 vehicles to be involved in the crash,” ISP said in a statement.
Police reported that a few people were taken to hospitals by ambulance, but they did not provide an exact number.
Traffic was blocked for much of the day so that emergency crews and tow trucks could help clear the scene.
