One dead, three injured in crash on southbound I-15 near Nephi

NEPHI, Utah — The Utah Highway Patrol said a person was killed on Sunday in a multi-car pileup on southbound I-15 in the Nephi area.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the UHP said traffic was diverted onto SR-28, and that the highway closure could last as long as five hours while an investigation continued.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the area of the crash is an active construction zone and there had been a previous crash that caused traffic to back up.
Then, a vehicle with four people was rear-ended. Officials said everybody in that vehicle was injured, and one person was killed.
Two people in the car that caused the crash were also injured.
After an investigation by the Utah Highway Patrol diverted traffic onto SR-28. By 4 p.m. on Sunday, southbound I-15 had reopened.
