Police incident halts both directions of traffic on I-15 near Nephi

SALT LAKE CITY — An uncooperative driver who fled from police and crashed caused traffic to stop on Interstate 15 near Nephi Wednesday afternoon.

Sgt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol said a trooper tried to stop the car near milepost 217 on I-15, but the driver fled.

Roden said the driver crashed at milepost 222 and was not cooperating with troopers and was refusing to get out of the car.

UHP posted on social media that troopers were diverting southbound traffic at milepost 222 and northbound traffic at milepost 207. Troppers are asking travelers to plan accordingly.

Roden said the suspect is now in custody and southbound I-15 is now open. He said northbound I-15 will be opened shortly.
