UDOT seeks public input regarding proposed Legacy Parkway improvements

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation is looking for public input on proposed improvements for Legacy Parkway.

UDOT released a draft State Environmental Study to add two new lanes between Farmington and I-215, one in each direction, as part of UDOT’s effort to meet travel demands through 2050. 

According to UDOT Region One Senior Communication Manager Mitch Shaw, new lanes would be built between the existing northbound and southbound lanes, meaning that the overall footprint of Legacy Parkway would not increase.

According to Shaw, the additional lanes could also help keep people moving during future I-15 construction projects, potentially saving the state nearly $200 million.

“While improving Legacy helps us prevent gridlock in 2050, it also makes travel safer and easier for people today,” UDOT Project Manager Eric Chaston said. “This project is part of a bigger approach that includes roads, transit, biking and walking. We look forward to hearing from the public about our plans.”

A 30-day comment period began Sept. 10 and is open until Oct. 10, 2025. The public is invited to attend a meeting from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2025 at Foxboro Elementary School in North Salt Lake.
