12-year-old suffers broken femur after falling at Goblin Valley State Park

SALT LAKE CITY — A 12-year-old was life flighted after falling several feet at Goblin Valley State Park on Thursday.
Emery County Sheriff’s Office said the child had fallen six to eight feet around 6 p.m., after climbing rocks in the area.
“Once State Park Rangers were on scene, they confirmed that the 12-year-old had a broken femur and was in stable condition,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. “Due to the traumatic injury, a Classic Air Medical helicopter was requested to respond to the scene.”
According to the sheriff’s office, the child was life flighted from the state park to a hospital to be treated.
“This incident gives us another opportunity to highlight our great working relationship with the multiple agencies in our area,” the sheriff’s office said in the post. “A huge thank you goes out to the Goblin Valley State Park Rangers, Green River EMTs, Classic Air Medical, Utah Highway Patrol, Emery County Sheriff’s Office, and anyone else who stepped up to help in this time of need.”
