14-year-old seriously injured after e-bike hit by truck in Vernal

SALT LAKE CITY — A 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a truck while riding his bike Wednesday afternoon in Vernal.
According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, the 14-year-old was riding an e-bike along a gravel canal access road near 1500 S. 1350 West when he crossed into traffic.
Witnesses told police a truck driver driving west on 1500 South attempted to stop but ended up hitting the 14-year-old, throwing him close to 30 feet away.
Police said the incident was under investigation.
