In another first, Alta becomes the first ski resort in North America to report 800 inches (about 66 feet) of snow. Overnight the resort reported 20 inches of new snow.
It’s been a record-breaking winter season all around Utah, with Deer Valley, Solitude and Snowbasin resorts also reporting huge snow totals. Utahns will benefit from more water this summer and the ski industry has had a huge boost.
The downfalls have included avalanches and other difficulties getting people up to the resorts.
