Bear spotted, captured in Heber City

SALT LAKE CITY — A bear was spotted and safely tranquilized in Heber City on Saturday night.

Heber City Police Department said the bear was spotted at Wingpointe Apartments pool near Highway 40.

“The brown bear fled across Highway 40 toward the Sheriff’s Office and ER,” police said. “Later, it was spotted at On the Run gas station and then the Royal Coachmen.”

According to police, the bear was treed by officers and then was tranquilized by the Division of Wildlife Resources.
