SALT LAKE CITY — The requirements to register an OHV (off-highway vehicle) or a boat will become a bit easier due to a bill that takes effect on the first of January.
The new law follows an existing law that eliminated the need for OHV and boat drivers to carry a copy of their registration in their personal vehicles.
As requested by his constituents, Utah State Representative Jordan Teuscher introduced H.B. 184 to address this issue. The bill passed earlier this year.
“House Bill 184 extends that same opportunity that you don’t have to have that physical card with you when you’re driving an off-highway vehicle,” said Teuscher. “They could have the physical card, they could have a digital copy or photograph of the card, or they could show there’s an app.”
Teuscher also mentioned that owners will still have to be able to prove their vehicles and boats are registered.
