Chief justice of Utah Supreme Court set to retire

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Matthew B. Durrant will retire at the end of August, according to a release from the Utah Judiciary. He is the longest serving chief justice in the state’s history.

Durrant has been on Utah’s supreme court for 26 years and was chief justice for the last 14 of those.

“Serving the people of Utah and working alongside dedicated judges and court employees across the state has been the honor of a lifetime,” Durrant said. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to help strengthen the administration of justice in Utah.”
